Man with knife allegedly robbed 17-year-old teen of handphone and $500 in Sembawang

A 30-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery.

The police said they received a report on Tuesday (June 25) at about 7.50pm of a 17-year-old man who was robbed by the suspect with a knife. 

The 17-year-old man was on a bus travelling along Sembawang Road when the robbery happened. 

A handphone and cash of about $500 were stolen. 

With ground enquiries and images from police and closed-circuit television, police from Woodlands Police Division identified the man and arrested him on Thursday (June 27). 

The man will be charged with armed robbery in court on Friday (June 28).

If convicted, the man faces a jail term of two to ten years and caning of up to 12 strokes.
