Man who allegedly robbed woman of $1,052 at knifepoint along Maxwell Road arrested

A 40-year-old man was arrested on Dec 19 for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery along Maxwell Road.

The police received a report on Dec 17 at about 11.45pm from a female victim, who said she was robbed of cash amounting to $1,052 by a man armed with a knife.

The man reportedly fled the scene after taking the cash.

Officers from the Central Police Division established the identity of the suspect through ground enquiries and arrested him along Orchard Road at about 2am.

The suspect will be charged in court on Dec 20 with armed robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

If convicted, he can be jailed for three to 14 years and receive a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.
