Man who allegedly broke into Ang Mo Kio home and stole handphone arrested

A 56-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.

On Jun 12 at about 4.30am, the police received a report that a residential unit along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 was broken into and a handphone was reported to be stolen.

Through investigations, the man was identified and arrested by officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 on Aug 14.

The handphone was also recovered.

The man will be charged in court on Aug 16 with housebreaking and theft by night.

The police would also like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows, and other openings are well-secured before retiring to bed or when leaving your home, even for a short while:
  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables at home; and
  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
