Man under investigation for allegedly assaulting woman, having stun device on him

A 29-year-old man is under police investigation after allegedly assaulting a woman and being found in possession of a stun device.

The police were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt where a female victim was allegedly assaulted by the man in a residential unit along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 on Thursday (Nov 26), at around 10.30pm.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim and the man are known to each other.

"While conducting checks on the man and his belongings, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division uncovered a stun device resembling a mobile phone on him," said the police.

The device was seized and the man was arrested.

Investigation is ongoing.

The offence of possession of any gun or arms without a licence carries a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

Separately, the offence of voluntarily causing hurt carries a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
