Man sent to hospital after lorry ends up in canal along Lower Delta Rd

A man was taken to hospital after a lorry crashed into a canal along Lower Delta Road today (Feb 7) at around 5pm.

Stomper Sunny was at the scene and took a video showing Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers lowering a ladder into the canal to rescue the driver.

Stomper Chris shared a photo of the incident that he had received from his friend.

Bystanders had gathered around the canal to see what had happened.

In response to Stomp's media queries, an SCDF spokesman said they were alerted to an accident along Lower Delta Road at about 5pm.

"A man was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) by SCDF ambulance," he said.

In response to a Stomp query, a police spokesman said:

“On Feb 7, 2018, at 4.56pm, the police were alerted to an accident involving a lorry along Lower Delta Road towards River Valley Road.

"The lorry driver, a 29-year-old man, was conscious when he was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital (SGH). Police investigations are ongoing.”
