Man injured after falling into 3m-deep drain in Ang Mo Kio

A man was taken to hospital after falling into a three-metre-deep drain along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 on Friday night (May 17).

Facebook user Karen Mochi posted photos and videos of the incident that occurred near Block 532.

Karen said she was on the way home from work when she saw a "full force rescue operation" by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and its Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART).

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said it was alerted to the rescue incident at 9.37pm and found the man lying in the drain.

"SCDF officers immediately entered the drain to access the man's injuries and secured him onto a stretcher," added a spokesman.

A pulley system attached to the cage of a combined platform ladder was then used to hoist the man from the drain.

The man was conscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
