Man detains suspect who took upskirt photo of woman while on escalator at Marsiling MRT Station

Mr Goh Tong En was on an escalator at Marsiling MRT Station at 8am on July 27 when he noticed the man in front of him taking an upskirt photo of a woman with his mobile phone.

He then approached the man and managed to detain him at the station. The man did not put up a struggle.

Mr Goh also got another member of the public to watch over the suspect while he went to inform one of the station's staff.

Mr Goh was commended for his public-spiritedness in a ceremony that was held at the Public Transport Security Command on Thursday (Aug 16).

Praising his courage, civic-mindedness, and for keeping the public transport system safe and secure, Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) of Police and Deputy Commander of Public Transport Security Command Evon Ng said: “Commuters are advised to be vigilant to their surroundings when travelling in the public transport network.

"Besides being able to prevent themselves from becoming victims of crime, they can also help the police keep the public transport network safe by becoming our eyes and ears on the ground.

"The police are thankful to Mr Goh for his display of public-spiritedness. Such acts go a long way to help deter crime on the public transport network.”
