Man cuts himself on bottle shards in violent lovers' tiff, leaves blood trail at Bedok block

During a violent lovers’ tiff early morning yesterday (Aug 13), a man accidentally cut himself on glass shards from a broken bottle, and left a trail of blood leading to his girlfriend's flat.

The incident happened at Block 69, Bedok South Avenue 3.

A 67-year-old resident who came across traces of blood at the foot of the block thought that there had been a fight.

He told Lianhe Wanbao:

“When I saw so much blood on the floor, trailing from a unit on the first storey, I thought someone might have been hurt badly or died.”

A 38-year-old worker from a coffee shop downstairs said that she had seen the blood trail at around 5am.

It is understood that the man and his girlfriend started arguing at a hotel along Middle Road.

As the argument intensified, the man, in a fit of rage had shattered a bottle, and accidentally cut his right pinky.

The resulting laceration was deep and he started bleeding badly, but instead of heading to a hospital, the two took a cab back to the woman’s flat at Block 69, Bedok South Avenue 3.

A female neighbour who works as a nurse witnessed the commotion as the couple returned home.

She helped to dress his wounds and called for an ambulance.

In response to media query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted to the case at 5.05am on Aug 13, 2017.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, and a man was conveyed to Changi General Hospital (CGH) for treatment.
