Man breaks up fight between 2 women outside Bukit Merah hawker centre, 1 arrested

A woman was arrested after a tussle with another woman and a man outside Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre on Wednesday (July 13).

Two videos of the incident were posted online.

The first video starts with a man trying to keep an older woman away from a younger woman as the women hit each other with the man between them.

The man appeared to be smoking as this was happening.

At one point, the younger woman suddenly hit the man in the head from behind.

This triggered the older woman, who assailed the younger woman and pulled her hair from the front. This lasted for a few seconds as the man attempted to break them apart and eventually succeeded.

They took a breather before the man got the older woman to walk away with him as the younger woman berated him.

In the second video, the younger woman was still berating the man while the older woman can no longer be seen.

Two policemen subsequently appeared to separate the woman from the man. One of the police officers had to physically block her from approaching the man.

A third policeman appeared and the police eventually got the man and woman to sit down at a table in the hawker centre.

The woman still seemed agitated at the end of the video.

Shin Min Daily News reported that witnesses said the man and the younger woman were a couple and the older woman was the man’s older sister, who was defending him in the couple’s dispute.

In response to a Stomp query, police said they were alerted to a dispute involving one man and two women at Block 115 Bukit Merah View at 1.13pm.

No injuries were reported. A 49-year-old woman was arrested for disorderly behaviour.

Police investigations are ongoing.
