Man arrested for suspected drug and traffic-related offences after rental car not returned on time

A man and a woman were nabbed for suspected drug-related offences along New Bridge Road on Saturday afternoon (Aug 15).

The man was also arrested for suspected traffic-related offences including driving without a valid licence, driving a motor vehicle without insurance coverage and taking of motor vehicle without owner’s consent.

The police had received a call for assistance at around 12.50pm to recover a rental car which was not returned by the stipulated time, they told Stomp in response to queries.

They subsequently arrested the 42-year-old man and the 32-year-old woman.

Photos and a video of the incident were posted on Facebook by a netizen, who said the man and the woman were being questioned in the car.

Police investigations are ongoing.
