Man arrested for series of underwear theft in Pasir Ris, over 25 undergarments found in his possession

A 26-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of underwear theft.

The police said in a statement they received a report on May 10 at 9.25pm informing them female undergarments hung outside a residential unit along Pasir Ris Street 12 were stolen.

Officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on May 20.

Preliminary investigations revealed the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases in the vicinity.

An assortment of more than 25 undergarments found in his possession were seized.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The offence of theft carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, or a fine, or both.

The police said they are also looking at possible breaches of safe distancing measures committed by the man under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.
