Man arrested for evading roadblock along Henderson Road and speeding off

A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly evading a roadblock along Henderson Road on May 11.

The police said in a statement that officers were conducting a roadblock along Henderson Road towards Telok Blangah Road at about 1.55am when they directed the driver of a car to stop for vehicular checks.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and sped off.

Officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the driver and arrested him for evading a roadblock.

Any person convicted of this offence may face a fine of up to $5,000, up to 12 months' jail, or both.

The police said in its statement they conduct roadblocks to deter and detect crimes.

"Members of public are advised to cooperate with police officers when approached during roadblocks," the police said.

"The police take a serious view of persons who evade roadblocks and perpetrators will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law."
