Man arrested for allegedly entering Ubi shop and stealing money pouch

A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly entering a shop and stealing a money pouch.

The police said they were alerted to a case of theft in dwelling along Ubi Avenue 1 on Wednesday (May 24), at around 2.15pm.

Through ground enquires and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him within one hour after the incident was reported.

A money pouch and cash of $539 were recovered.

The man will be charged in court on Friday with theft in dwelling, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
