Man arrested after slashing victim with small knife at Tampines HDB corridor

A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly slashing someone with a small knife during a fight in Tampines.

The police were alerted on Tuesday (July 21) to the incident along the corridor in a Housing Board (HDB) block along Tampines Street 11.

"The victim was found with lacerations on his right thigh area and was conscious when conveyed to Changi General Hospital," said the police in a statement.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the suspect's identity and arrested him within three hours of the report made.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim and the man are believed to be known to each other, and the man had allegedly slashed the victim with a small knife," added the police.

The man will be charged in court on Thursday (July 23) with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon, which carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and/or a fine and/or caning.
