Man arrested after manhunt for aggravated outrage of modesty, possession of hammer and penknife

A 47-year-old man has been arrested for aggravated outrage of modesty and possession of offensive weapons.

The police said in a statement they received a report on Saturday (Mar 26) at 2.40pm that a woman was molested by an unknown man inside a lift at a residential block along Ghim Moh Link.

The man was arrested in a manhunt operation within three hours of the incident.

He was found to be in possession of a hammer and a penknife.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be responsible for another similar case of outrage of modesty reported on Mar 24 at Telok Blangah Crescent.

He will be charged in court on Monday (Mar 28) with aggravated outrage of modesty and will be remanded for further investigations.

The offence carries a jail term of between three to 10 years, and caning.
