Man arrested after allegedly stealing bicycle in Bukit Batok and damaging police camera

A 50-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (June 1) after he allegedly stole a bicycle and damaged a police camera.

The police were alerted to a case of theft of a bicycle at a residential block located along Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 on May 21, at about 4.30pm.

Through investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Jurong Police Division established the suspect's identity and arrested him.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had also purportedly damaged a police camera.

The man was charged in court on June 3.

If convicted for vandalism, he faces a jail term of up to three years or a fine of up to $2,000, and three to eight strokes of the cane.

If convicted for theft, he faces a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine.
