Man arrested after allegedly slashing victim with fruit knife and robbing him of mobile phone

A 58-year-old man was arrested on Sunday (Oct 13) after allegedly slashing a male victim with a a fruit knife and robbing him of his mobile phone along Tanglin Halt Road.

Police said they were alerted to the case at around 10.40pm.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the suspect's identity and caught him on the same day.

The man was charged in court on Tuesday (Oct 15) with armed robbery with hurt.

If convicted, he faces a jail term of five to 20 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
