A 40-year-old man was arrested for suspected possession of an offensive weapon in a public place after being allegedly seen walking towards a coffee shop with a knife on Sunday (March 14).
The police said they received a call for assistance at around 12.10am, where a man was allegedly seen holding a knife and walking towards a coffee shop along Clementi West Street 2.
Upon arrival, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the 40-year-old man and arrested him.
One knife was seized as a case exhibit.
The man will be charged in court on Monday with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, which carries a jail term of up to to three years and at least six strokes of the cane.
In a statement, the police said they have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts and will not hesitate to act against those who blatantly disregard the law.
