Two people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at Block 517A Jurong West Street 52 in the early hours of Sunday (Feb 24).

Around 90 residents were evacuated by the police, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) in response to queries by Stomp.

The SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at about 1.30am.

The fire, which involved the contents of a bedroom, was extinguished by the SCDF using one water jet and one compressed air foam backpack.

A man and a woman were taken to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Stomper Anonymous, a resident at the block, contributed videos and photos that show SCDF officers responding to the scene.

The Stomper said: "My neighbour called me at 1.35am about the fire. By then, the SCDF vehicles were already downstairs.

"Some residents said they saw a huge fire coming out of the unit."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
