Man, 64, arrested after allegedly attacking another man at Jalan Bukit Merah, cleavers seized

A 64-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attacking another man, 48, at Jalan Bukit Merah, said police.

The police were alerted to a case of assault on Tuesday (March 14) at about 11.30am.

Through ground enquiries and the with the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him within an hour of the report.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both men were known to each other.

Two cleavers were seized as case exhibits.

The suspect was to be charged in court on Thursday (March 16) with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon, which carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
