Man, 58, arrested for molesting woman on bus along Commonwealth Drive

A 58-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman on a bus along Commonwealth Drive.

The police said in a statement that they received a report of the case on Sunday (Jan 1) at about 7am.

"The woman immediately alerted the bus driver, who then stopped the man from leaving and called the police," the police said.

"The man was subsequently arrested at scene by responding police officers."

The offence of outrage of modesty carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, caning or any combination of such punishments.

"The police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community," the statement said.

"Offenders will be health with sternly in accordance with the law."
