A 23-year-old man was arrested for causing annoyance when drunk and voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from carrying out his duties at Bishan on Saturday night (Jan 5).

Stomper Jason alerted Stomp to the incident at Block 163 Bishan Street 13 and shared videos and photos he took from his home, showing police officers at the scene.

Jason told Stomp he heard a man shouting and hurling vulgarities at a taxi driver at about 11.26pm.

In the video he took, a woman is heard shouting at someone to "sit down".

"The shouting disturbed my sleep, I don't understand why they have to argue and fight," he said.

"They should calm down and settle the matter peacefully if there is a misunderstanding."

In response to a Stomp media query, the police said they received a call for assistance at about 11.08pm.

Stomp understands the man was believed to be drunk when he got into a dispute with a taxi driver.

When he became aggressive, the cabby called for the police.

While officers were arresting the man and putting him into a car, the guy kicked one of the officers in the knee.

The officer did not suffer any major injuries.
