Man, 20, arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon after dispute on bus

A 20-year-old man was arrested on Friday (Aug 21) for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon after allegedly injuring someone following a dispute.

The police were alerted to the incident at a bus stop along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 on Thursday.

Thy said in a statement: "The victim was found with several injuries and was conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital."

Through investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division established the suspect's identity and arrested him.

"The police would like to thank members of the public for providing valuable information which aided investigations and contributed to the arrest," they added in the statement.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is not known to the victim and the assault allegedly arose from an incident that happened on a bus journey."

The man will be charged in court on Saturday with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and/or a fine and/or caning.
