Malaysian man found with 5,066 sachets of chewing tobacco hidden in car at Woodlands Checkpoint

A 32-year-old Malaysian man was found with 5,066 sachets of chewing tobacco hidden in various parts of his car at Woodlands Checkpoint on Monday (Sep 10).

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said that officers had referred the driver for further checks when the sachets were uncovered from the rear bumper, left and right side skirting, and undercarriage of the Malaysia-registered car.

The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigations.

In its post titled "Crushed and Ground", the ICA said it would "continue to conduct security checks on passengers and vehicles at the checkpoints to prevent attempts to smuggle in undesirable persons, drugs, weapons, explosives and other contrabands".
