Malaysian farmer who raped stepdaughter, 14, gets 13 years' jail and caning

A farmer from Kiulu, Tuaran, in Malaysia, was sentenced to 13 years' jail and one stroke of the cane by the Sessions Court on Thursday (May 24) after being found guilty of raping his stepdaughter two years ago.

The incident happened in the living room of a house in Kiulu, at around 1am on November 2016, and the victim was only 14 years old then, reports the New Straits Times

The accused, 34, pleaded guilty before Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim as the charge was read out to him in a local Dusun dialect.

He had been charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code on November 27, 2017, and was barred from leaving his home. 

He was represented by counsel Henry Gudit while Deputy public prosecutor Dinesh Raja represented the prosecution.
