Maid arrested for alleged murder of 73-year-old man in Bishan home

A 49-year-old domestic worker has been arrested for her suspected involvement in the murder of a 73-year-old man.

The police said they were alerted to a case of death at a residential unit along Bishan Street 23 on Thursday (Apr 28), at around 8.50pm.

When police arrived, they found the elderly man lying motionless inside the unit and he was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

A migrant domestic worker in the deceased’s household was subsequently arrested after follow-up investigations.

The woman will be charged in court on Saturday (Apr 30) with murder, which carries the death penalty.

Police investigations are ongoing.
