Lorry crashes into shopfront opposite Village Hotel at Victoria Street

A grey lorry crashed into a shopfront opposite Village Hotel at Victoria Street today (Aug 30) at around 5.20pm.

Stomper Davidoff who was at Village Hotel came across the accident site and quickly took some photos which he sent to Stomp. 

Wrecked furniture littered the shopfront after the collision. 

An ambulance was also spotted on the scene.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the incident.

In response to Stomp's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has issued an official statement:

"SCDF was alerted to an accident along Victoria Street at around 5pm.

"SCDF dispatched one ambulance to the scene. 

"A person was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment."

A police spokesman said:

"On Aug 30, 2017, at 4.57pm, the Police were alerted to an accident involving a car and a lorry along Arab Street towards Victoria Street. 

"A 65-year-old male lorry driver was conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
