Lift maintenance leads Lau Lup to 'giant' discovery

Stomper Lau Lup came across a dead insect when he was forced to use the stairs yesterday afternoon (Nov 8) as the lift at his block was under maintenance. 

He snapped some photos of his interesting find. 

Said Lau Lup:

"The fly was damn big, like a giant mosquito!

"I have seen flies before but nothing as big as this!

"I placed the fly on one of my thighs and its width was nearly as wide as my thigh. 

"I wonder, what kind of fly this is?"

A search online revealed that the insect could possibly have been a crane fly, belonging to the insect family Tipulidae.
