A lift at Block 530 Bedok North Street 3 was temporarily shut down to facilitate the replacement of a door wire on Saturday night (Nov 30).

A Stomper who is a resident at the block alerted Stomp to the incident.

He shared a photo he took showing a wire dangling from the ceiling of the lift.

He told Stomp that he alerted his Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap about the breakdown.

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman from Aljunied-Hougang Town Council said that the door wire functions to open and shut the lift doors.

The spokesman said: "The town council is aware of the matter.

"Our 24-hour Emergency Service Unit (EMSU) service provider was alerted to this feedback on Saturday (30 Nov) at 9:25pm and shut down the lift at about 9:48pm.

"The shutdown was to facilitate the replacement of the door wire, which functions to open and shut the lift doors.

"By Sunday morning, the door wire was replaced and the lift was back in operation."
