Lazada issues refund and removes seller after customer receives Santa hat instead of water heaters

This is not the Christmas spirit.

A Stomper informed Stomp that her family had bought two EuropAce water heaters for $28.61 each on Lazada earlier this month.

However, on Monday(Dec 19), they were shocked when they received a Santa hat instead.

They reported the matter to Lazada on the same day.

In the meantime, they clicked the refund button on the app and were instructed to return the package.

The Stomper asked: "Why should we go through the trouble of going to SingPost to return a Santa's hat?"

"The seller is a scammer.

"This must be made known so Lazada will be more vigilant in the selection of their sellers.

"Also, I hope Stomp can publish this so there won't be more victims."

In response to a Stomp query, a Lazada spokesman said: "We have looked into the matter and issued a refund to the customer, and let him know there is no need to send back anything.

"We apologise for the customer’s experience and have taken down the seller."
