F&B operator Koufu has responded to a diner's feedback about how he and his mother discovered a fly in a bowl of dessert that they purchased from Pioneer Mall.

Stomper Junda said he visited the food court at the Jurong West mall with his mother on Monday (Jan 13), at around 9pm.

After the pair finished their dinner, Junda ordered two bowls of dessert for them.

Junda told Stomp: "My mother stirred her cheng tng (a traditional Singaporean sweet dessert) and had a few spoonfuls.

"She then scooped out a fly from her dessert.

"The fly had been soaked in the black-coloured longan syrup to the point that the fly was all black.

"My mother didn't want to continue eating anymore and just left her dessert there. She doesn't like confrontations so she told me to just forget it and leave the place."

The Stomper said he subsequently left feedback and his contact details via Koufu's website, but did not receive a response or any acknowledgement.

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for Koufu said: "Food safety and customer service are of utmost importance to us.

"We have activated our in-house hygiene officer to check on any hygiene lapses, and our operations manager will also be checking and ensuring that procedures are adhered to prevent such incidents from happening again.

"We welcome customers who face any issues during their meal at our outlets to approach our outlet manager on location so that they are able to resolve the matter immediately for them. We would like to assure our customers that we take every feedback seriously.

"Customers can contact us at enquiry@koufu.com.sg to send in their enquiries or feedback."
