It's a bouncing baby boy for former actor Vincent Ng and his wife.

The couple recently welcomed a son weighing about 3kg at Mount Elizabeth hospital.

"It's not easy for a woman to carry and give birth to a baby," he told Chinese daily ShinMin Daily News, and added that he was moved to tears when he cut his son's umbilical cord.

Even though the couple had gone for infant care classes, the first-time dad was still caught off-guard by his baby's urine while changing nappies at the hospital.

"Both fatherhood and martial arts are things that require practice," he said.

Adding to the celebrations is Ng's recent appointment as Wushu Director of Singapore National Wushu Federation.

Ng is also busy preparing for the opening of a new 6,000sqm martial arts school in October. There, he will hold physical fitness courses with local singer Alfred Sim who is also an athletics coach.

"I hope to serve the nation by promoting martial arts in Singapore," he said.

The martial arts champion loves children and often interacts with the children and youths at his martial arts school Wufang.

And when asked if he has plans for baby no. 2, Ng said: "Definitely! I hope that I can work well and be a good father at the same time."

"Now, my family is the most important part of my life. I'm very grateful."

Ng married Mei Ling, 39, in a hush-hush ceremony last July after a whirlwind romance.
