Stomper Avijit and his friend spotted what appeared to be a crocodile at Woodlands Waterfront recently.

He said, "My friend called NParks but I don't know what happened after that as we had to go back early."

It is unclear if the creature that the two guys had seen was indeed a crocodile.

According to a report by The Straits Times, saltwater crocodiles have been hunted down to near extinction even though they used to be common in Singapore waters decades ago.

Previous sightings of the reptile have been made at Sungei Buloh and around Kranji Reservoir. Some were also seen near Pasir Ris and Woodlands, but these had likely visited from Malaysia, experts said.
