Inspiring Teachers Awards: As a teacher, this is what I see when I look at my principal from afar

Alison, a teacher at Eshkol Valley @ Northstar Pte Ltd, would like to nominate and pay tribute to her school principal, Ms Stefanie Thia.

The 47-year-old lauds Ms 'Stefy' for her endless devotion and dedication towards her students.

Here is Alison's entry for the Samsung-Stomp Inspiring Teachers Awards:

"I am a preschool teacher. In fact, Miss Stefy (as how she was addressed by the cuties in school) is our principal.

"To me, she has devoted her hard work and most of her time to the centre, teachers and children in her own quiet ways.

"She is someone who accepts suggestions and ways of improvement in nurturing the children and building teamwork among staff in non-domineering ways.

"She always tries to understand and puts herself in the person's shoes instead of judging. She always tries to bring across messages or suggestions in positive ways.

"Whenever I look at her from afar, I can see her effort in encouraging positive guidance towards the children and scaffolding them towards good self-esteem, nurturing them into confident individuals who respect others in terms of character development.

"She is like a teacher who walks by management in her own quiet and demure way. Not forgetting to mention her creativity and how she is always open to trying out crazy or new ideas, coping with a whole lot of dramatic queens surrounding her.

"My article might not be deemed appropriate as a nomination award for teachers, but these are my heartfelt words to thank her in my own ways.

"THANK YOU! Follow your heart, follow your dreams, Stef. Your greatness is not what you have. It's what you give."
