Indonesian man arrested after seen walking along Tuas Second Link with no documents

An Indonesian man who was seen walking along the Tuas Second Link towards Singapore was nabbed for suspected immigration offences.

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the man was spotted at around midnight on March 23 and "promptly intercepted by Tuas Checkpoint officers before he could become a traffic safety hazard".

"Further checks revealed the man had no identity documents or travel documents in his possession. He was apprehended for suspected immigration offences," said ICA in a Facebook post titled 'Risky night march' on Tuesday (Apr 4).

ICA also said it takes a serious view on attempts to enter or depart Singapore illegally, and is committed to facilitating trade and safe travels while keeping Singapore's borders safe and secure.

Under the Immigration Act 1959, those who enter Singapore illegally may face a fine of up to $1,000 and/or or a jail term of up to six months.
