25-year-old teacher from Chung Cheng High dies after collapsing at Yishun home

A 25-year-old teacher from Chung Cheng High (Yishun) died after collapsing at home on Saturday morning (Feb 25).

Ms Lim Peck Teng was found unconscious in the bathroom by her landlord, who suspected something was amiss after Ms Lim remained in the bathroom for an unusually long period of time.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told Lianhe Wanbao that they received a call for assistance at Blk 868, Yishun St 81, at 7.27am on Saturday. An ambulance was dispatched immediately, and cardiopulmonary respiration was performed on her en route to Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital.

However, paramedics failed to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police said they were looking into the matter.

Ms Lim hailed from Malacca and taught Chinese at Chung Cheng High (Yishun).

Close friends of Ms Lim told Lianhe Wanbao that prior to her death, Ms Lim had been experiencing a lot of stress at work. She had also been nursing a long-running cold that had yet to recover.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, she had rented the unit at Yishun only three to four months ago.

Her 38-year-old landlord described her as a polite lady who would greet everyone when she returned home every night, while her friends remembered her as being loving and responsible with a zest for life.

Ms Lim’s family arrived at the morgue yesterday (Feb 26) morning to identify her body and collect her belongings. Her body has been brought back to Malaysia for burial.

Her mother told Lianhe Wanbao that Ms Lim’s death was too sudden and that the family was still in shock at the news.
