ICA is 'roof-less' in detecting 800 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes hidden in lorry

A Malaysia-registered lorry was found with 800 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed between its roof panels at Woodlands Checkpoint on Sep 22.

In a Facebook post wittily dubbed "Roof-less to smugglers", the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said officers noticed "something suspicious" in a scanned image of the lorry.

A 44-year-old Malaysian man was driving the lorry, which was carrying empty plastic cases.

The case was referred to Singapore Customs for further investigation, added the ICA.
