Howard Shaw slapped with 8 weeks' jail and $10k fine for third drink driving conviction

Howard Shaw, grandson of the founder of Shaw Cinema, Runme Shaw, has been sentenced to eight weeks in prison and a S$10,000 fine for his third drink driving conviction.

The 46-year-old Shaw pleaded guilty to being drunk behind the wheel in the wee hours of Jan 31, 2017, while travelling along Whitley Road, reports Coconuts Singapore

At that time, he had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his blood.

In addition to his sentence, Shaw also received an eight-year ban from driving.

This comes in light of Shaw’s previous two offences of drink driving.

In 1997, he was slapped with a S$3,000 fine and a two-year driving ban.

He was jailed for a week, fined S$8,000 and banned from driving for four years for his second offence in 2006.
