Hoping to catch flying fish?

An elderly man who hung fishing nets in a tree in Hougang last year did it again last month.

A Stomper shared a video of the man and the tree taken last year.

"This video shows so many nets on the tree last July," said the Stomper. "You can see the owner removing the nets after being warned by the town council."

While referred to as "nets", they actually look more like cages.

"This happened in July 2022 and then again in May 2023," complained the Stomper, who shared photos of a fishing net in a tree as well as in the back of a small Toyota lorry taken last month.

"The inconsiderate person who owns this vehicle hangs his fishing net to dry on a tree in the carpark at Hougang Avenue 5. The fishing net belongs to the owner of this lorry."

"This is extremely concerning as the tree branch can break and cause injury to unsuspecting people walking past.

"The town council should be more proactive in dealing with this recalcitrant offender, whose actions pose a danger to other residents."

In response to a Stomp query, an Aljunied-Hougang Town Council spokesman said: "The town council is aware of the matter and has been engaging the elderly owner of the fishing nets who is residing in a nearby block.

"We will monitor the situation to see if the problem persists."
