A power outage left much of Opera Estate in the dark on the night of Sept 30.

Sharing photos of the incident, Stomper Ling said the blackout happened at about 9.30pm.

"Halloween comes early for residents at Opera Estate," quipped the Stomper.

Opera Estate is an area in the east of Singapore with mostly landed property and streets named after famous operas.

"Several streets, namely Fidelio, Carmen, Tosca and Dido, were affected by the blackout." recounted the Stomper.

"Dido Street was in complete darkness. Almost all the houses were without power and the street lamps were out as well.

"Only certain houses on the other three streets were facing the power outage.

"The residents started walking on the street waiting for Singapore Power (SP) services to come. It took about 30 minutes for SP to send generators to power the houses on the four streets."

In response to a Stomp query, an SP Group spokesman said: “We were notified of a disruption to electricity supply to Dido Street at 9.16pm on Sept 30.

"Our officers were immediately deployed to restore supply as safely and quickly as possible."

"Supply was progressively restored from 10pm, and fully restored at 11pm.”
