First Barbie doll without thigh gaps is here: Barbie unveils Ashley Graham doll at Los Angeles summit

In the recent years, Barbie has abandoned the idea of unrealistic body images, or rather the ideal hourglass body image every woman dreams of. Instead, Barbie has been coming up with dolls of varying body features from skin tone to hair type since January. However, this is not the end of Barbie's new collection.

At the recent Glamour Women Of The Year Summit in Los Angeles, Barbie has unveiled the doll that they have been working on for some time, Ashley Graham doll. Being a 28 year-old plus size model, Graham is an advocate for women of all sizes and believes that every body size is a perfect size.

This doll is exactly proportional to Graham, and even true to the smallest details of her like her hair and eye colour. "Young girls now get to grow up seeing that their bodies are normal, which I think is so empowering and encouraging to the younger generation," she said of Barbie's recent advancements.

Most importantly, this will be the first doll by Barbie without thigh gaps, as Graham specifically asked the team to not let go this detail of her. "The number one prerequisite... was that her thighs touched. I was like, 'Guys, we can make this Barbie, but if her thighs don’t touch, she's not authentic,"

The doll was presented to Graham at the summit and she even shared this masterpiece of her on her Instagram account with her followers.

Is this the end of the thigh gap era? Nevertheless, we are looking forward to seeing this doll on the shelves!
