The viral clip shows a Thai military officer pulling out a long parasitic worm from inside a grasshopper.

He uses a pincer to rip open the abdomen of the insect, and the live parasite uncurls out of it.

The parasite is known as a horse hair worm, or gordian worm.

According to World Of Buzz, they are commonly found in grasshoppers, crickets and cockroaches.

Research shows they can grow longer than 10cm.

The thought of having one inside you is enough to give you sleepless nights.
