Fire breaks out in container truck at Tuas: 1 firefighter injured

A fire broke out in a container truck in Tuas on Monday (Dec 27).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at 9 Tuas South Avenue 10 at around 5.30pm.

SCDF shared in a statement on Facebook: "The fire involved the contents of a container which was parked on the fourth floor ramp.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using a compressed air foam jet and an Unmanned Firefighting Machine.

"In the course of the firefighting operation, a career Section Commander injured his elbow. He was assessed by an SCDF paramedic and was conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in a conscious and stable condition."

There were no other reported injuries.

About 25 occupants from the premises self-evacuated upon SCDF's arrival.

Damping down operations, in which water is applied to burnt surfaces to prevent any potential rekindling of fire, are ongoing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
