When Stomper SP Lim looked out of her window at around 8am on Thursday (March 7), it was so smoky that she thought there was haze.

It turned out that a fire had broken out opposite her unit at Golden Wall Flatted Factory.

SP Lim took photos of the thick smoke and sent them to Stomp.

She said: "The fire alarm didn't go off until later so I was quite surprised.

"There were people exiting the building themselves and I also saw the police going up to check."

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at 2 Jalan Rajah at around 7.30am.

The fire, which involved the contents of a third-floor unit, was extinguished using two water jets.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

According to The Straits Times, the fire caused about $200,000 worth of damage after it destroyed items such as computers, desks and air-conditioning units.
