A bus captain's kindness shone through on a gloomy, rainy day.

A family was touched by the actions of the SMRT bus captain who went out of his way to escort them with an umbrella one by one into a bus during a bout of heavy rain.

Stomper Danis told Stomp that she and her family were waiting at a bus stop along Petir Road for bus service 972M going towards the city on Mar 20.

"It was raining when the bus arrived and the bus captain waved at us not to board yet," she said.

"Instead, he alighted the bus holding an umbrella and brought us on board one by one.

"We were so touched by his kindness.

"He said some bus stops are a little away and you would have to rush in when it rains, most times getting wet.

"My son was carrying his baby girl and we wanted to go up to the upper deck.

"The bus driver told us when we decided to get off to wait until the bus had fully stopped before getting up from our seats as it can be pretty dangerous especially when having to carry a baby.

"He was so thoughtful, humble and kind.

"Please thank him for us."
