A family is looking for their pet African grey parrot which flew away from their Teban Gardens home on Aug 10.

Stomper Melvin said they were all 'surprised' when their parrot, named Nika, glided off its perch, through their kitchen and out of their service yard window.

"He is not a good flier and was borne by the wind from our home in the direction of Pandan Reservoir," he said.

"We are all very distraught at losing him as we haven't yet introduced him to the world outside our flat.

"Please sympathise and help to bring him home, creating any awareness will help.

"If you see him, any red feathers, or live in the area and learn of any neighbours who have suddenly acquired African greys, please keep us in mind.

"In a world where you can be anything, please choose to be kind with your comments and treatment to lost things, human or otherwise.

"If you have loved, there is a chance you will lose it, so be kind to others who have lost."
