The town council has responded to feedback regarding a face mask being discarded in a water cooler at New Soon East Courtyard.

Stomper Francesco raised concerns after seeing the face mask in the water cooler on Thursday (Apr 2), at around 8pm.

He said: "The government has been nice enough to build the residents a wonderful courtyard and on top of it, they have installed water coolers.

"I understand that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the water coolers have been shut down.

"However, there is no excuse for the person who threw this face mask into the water cooler."

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for Nee Soon Town Council said: "During routine cleaning, our cleaners have cleared away the masks.

"This is the first time the town council has come across this. We believe this is a one-time incident as we did not receive any feedback from residents on this issue.

"Nevertheless, we have tasked our cleaning team to pay more attention to this area. The town Council will continue to monitor the situation.

"In view of the COVID-19 situation in Singapore, we encourage members of the public to practise social responsibility at all times."
