Elderly woman's foot severed after getting hit by train at Thailand station

A 71-year-old Thai woman lost her left foot in an accident with a train on Aug 20 at around 7am.

According to The Nation, the incident occurred at the Pak Chong Railway Station in Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima province.

The rice-cracker vendor was reportedly walking across eight railway tracks outside the station’s crossing zone when she got hit by a 14-carriage train transporting gasoline.

Head of Pak Chong Railway Station, Pisit Saengphrom, said the woman had attempted to cut in front of the train while it was removing one of its two diesel locomotives at the station and officials could not brake in time.

After being rendered first-aid, the victim was rushed to Pak Chong Nana Hospital.
