Eew! What's this slimy-looking substance seen on tree in Bedok?

Stomper Jeff came across an unusual sight on a tree near Block 44, Bedok South Road on Sep 17. 

In a telephone interview with Stomp, he reported seeing a slimy-looking substance on the tree trunk about 2 metres from the ground.

Based on the photo, the substance is orange and looks similar to candle wax.

"This is my first time seeing something like this. This lump is only on this tree and not on the others. Maybe it is sick," said Jeff.
