Driver intentionally accelerates vehicle towards man after dispute in Geylang

A 57-year-old driver who intentionally accelerated his vehicle towards another man after they had a dispute has been arrested for rash act causing grievous hurt.

The police received a report on Friday (Aug 14) about a man who had been hit by a vehicle at the back lane of Lorong 27A Geylang.

The victim was conscious when conveyed to Raffles Medical Hospital.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the driver's identity and arrested him on Saturday.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was believed to have intentionally accelerated his vehicle towards the victim after a dispute," said the police on Sunday.

The vehicle was also seized for further investigations.

The man will be charged in court on Monday for the offence of rash act causing grievous hurt, which carries a jail term of up to four years and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
